2) A reminder to any student utilizing the activity bus privilege. Any misbehaving on the activities bus and the student will lose this privilege for the remainder of the year.

3) Attention Star Wars fans! LEAP after school programs are offering a JEDI KNIGHT Light Saber class February 29th at the Dubuque Karate Club. Sign-up after school today with Mrs. Beau.

4) Sports Today - Jefferson Red Basketball...Jefferson Red vs. Washington White. 7th grade at Jefferson and 8th grade at Washington; both games begin at 4 p.m.

5) The Dubuque Leisure Services Department is hosting a Snow Shoeing program. Swiss Valley will be providing snow shoes and allowing anyone to come and try it out. It's a non-school day, so we are hoping to get the kids out of the house and utilize the parks! Come to Comiskey Park, February 5th, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. See you there!

4) Jefferson Special Olympians traveled to North Scott in Eldridge to play in a basketball competition on Saturday, January 23rd. They played great, won both of their games, and received first place! The members of the team were Michaela Ward, Payton Gibson, Katie Carlson, and Colin Edberg.

On Tuesday night the 7th grade boys basketball team had an inner-school scrimmage. Red and Gold A and B teams played really hard. Both teams have very high goals for the season. Coaches are excited to start competition. Terrell Fowler was the leading scorer and assist man. Great job HillHawks!

Congratulations to the following students who received special recognition this weekend. Jefferson Middle School's...Jessica Droessler, Krystin Duve, Shaelyn Hostager, Austin Key, Naomi Winkelman. These students represented the B.E.S.T. entries in the MLK competition. The NAACP Education Committee congratulates all students who paid tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr. this year. Judges for the tribute were from 4 The People, Inc., University of Dubuque, Clarke University, and the NAACP. All students did excellent work. Jefferson students won every category! We are proud of you!
