Student Announcements - Tuesday, October 30, 2012 Day B

1) Please continue to save Box Tops and Milk Caps. You can put them in the barrel outside of guidance.

2) There will be no Homework Help after school today and no Chess.

3) The final turn-in and prize day for the magazine sale is tomorrow, October 31st. You can still win the trip to Kalahari by selling a total of 10 items before the end of the sale. At 3 items you can take your turn getting a staff member soaking wet at the Flush Em Tank. Turn your orders in tomorrow. Also be sure to register at WWW.APHEARST.COM and send emails to your friends and family members so they can support your fundraiser. All internet orders count double toward your wall chart prizes.

4) Birthdays Today - October 30th...Seth Hansen, Olivia Meyer.

5) Today, October 30th, the Anti-Bullying Alliance is organizing the "Mix it up at Lunch Day" at Jefferson. "Mix it up at Lunch Day" is held at schools all over the United States on this day. Students will sit at tables according to the letter on their name tags for that day. The ABA will have some ideas for students to talk about at each table. The most important thing is for us to respect everyone- even if we don't know each other or someone is different from us.

Waste Baskets: Waste baskets have been placed in each hallway by the drinking fountains. Please dispose of wrappers, papers, etc. in these baskets. Do not throw things on the floor. Be respectful to the custodians by not adding to their work at the end of each day by throwing all waste products either in the hallway waste baskets or in classroom waste baskets and recycling tubs. Thank you for following these expectations and keeping our school looking clean and professional.

1) The final fundraiser turn-in and prize day is Wednesday, October 31st. The trip to Kalahari will be a blast! Have 10 items by the end of the sale and you will be on the bus to Kalahari.

2) Tomorrow, October 30th, the Anti-Bullying Alliance is organizing the "Mix it up at Lunch Day" at Jefferson. "Mix it up at Lunch Day" is held at schools all over the United States on this day. Students will sit at tables according to the letter on their name tags for that day. The ABA will have some ideas for students to talk about at each table. The most important thing is for us to respect everyone- even if we don't know each other or someone is different from us.

4) Dare to be King and Queen will have a special meeting after school today, please let Mr. Hatcher know if you are planning on attending. There will be no Homework Help tomorrow after school.

Congratulations to the Jefferson students chosen to participate in the 2012 Loras College Honor Band! Tayler Reynolds, Lizzie Grace, Brianna Fry, Samantha Wieland, Bobbi Jo Bellmann, Adam Mueller, Taylor Butler, Jonah Oberfoell, Heather Dean, and Cody Bartels were chosen for this special concert which will take place on Friday, October 26 at 6:00pm in the Field House. Admission is free of charge. Way to go, students!

3) Cross Country...Noah Sabers still needs to turn in his uniform to Mrs. Meyer.

4) The first turn-in for the magazine fundraiser will take place tomorrow. Help your class win money for a party by...Reaching your thermometer goal and be part of the pig races; being the class with the most internet orders; being the class with most emails sent. The internet is the easiest and quickest way to obtain orders and for every order you receive, it will double for the wall chart prizes. If you turn in just 3 items you will play cookies and cream with a chance to compete in the cream pie bubble blow contest. 10 items will earn you the trip to kalahari plus a spin on the wheel of fortune to win cash to spend at the Kalahari. 15 items you will have your choice of a level A wall chart prize or another spin on the wheel of fortune to win even more cash to spend at the Kalahari.

If you answered yes to all questions, we want you to join First Lego League. Practices will be from 11:55-12:55 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Our team will compete at Washington Middle School on December 8th. For more information or to sign up, please see Ms. Weber in the guidance area. Our first practice will be Monday, October 22nd. Only 10 members will be selected, so if you are interested, sign up as soon as possible.

3) Anyone interested in signing up for wrestling, go to the main office and sign up. Wrestling practice begins on Monday, October 22nd.

4) The only Leap classes running for today's early release are Wizard of Oz and Homework Help. The Wizard of Oz is at the Library, a bus will be here at 12:45 to pick you up and return to school by 4:00. Jewelry Making is cancelled for today, but will be rescheduled for February. Y Club will meet at regular time today but there will be no transportation from Jefferson.

Hempstead vs. Senior Football Game On Friday, October 5th, the Hempstead Mustangs play the Senior Rams at the University of Dubuque. If you will be attending this game it is important that you follow the following guidelines.
1. Stand, remove your hat, and face the flag quietly during the national anthem.
2. Find a seat and remain seated during the game - please don't run around the bleachers.
3. Students who are disruptive during the game will be escorted out of the stadium. Enjoy the game!
