1) 7th and 8th graders please sign up for dance and boys basketball this week in the cafeteria. The season begins January 7th. Make sure you have an updated sports physical on file. Go Hillhawks!

2) New LEAP programs beginning second semester. Make sure you are signed up today! Two new programs to pay special attention to are Bridge Club and NASA. Bridge is where you can test your wits and learn how to be a professional Bridge player. The NASA class will teach you about rocketry and aeronautics. There may be opportunities to fly in a real plane.

3) There will be no after school Leap Programs and no Homework Help tomorrow after school.

A big thank you to the DRA which provided funding to purchase instruments for Dubuque Community Schools band and orchestra programs.  Without this funding, students would not be able to participate in our many instrumental music activities.  Enjoy some sounds of the season from our TJMS band members who recently performed at the Roshek Building.  More pictures of students using these instruments are shown below.

3) The final turn-in and prize day for the magazine sale is tomorrow, October 31st. You can still win the trip to Kalahari by selling a total of 10 items before the end of the sale. At 3 items you can take your turn getting a staff member soaking wet at the Flush Em Tank. Turn your orders in tomorrow. Also be sure to register at WWW.APHEARST.COM and send emails to your friends and family members so they can support your fundraiser. All internet orders count double toward your wall chart prizes.

Congratulations to the Jefferson students chosen to participate in the 2012 Loras College Honor Band! Hempstead vs. Senior Football Game On Friday, October 5th, the Hempstead Mustangs play the Senior Rams at the University of Dubuque. If you will be attending this game it is important that you follow the following guidelines.
1. Stand, remove your hat, and face the flag quietly during the national anthem.
2. Find a seat and remain seated during the game - please don't run around the bleachers.
3. Students who are disruptive during the game will be escorted out of the stadium. Enjoy the game!

  • House 1 Bed Sheet Race Champs - Mrs. Haverland, House 6-1
  • House 2 Bed Sheet Race Champs - Mr. Kelly, House 7-2
  • These two teams will compete head to head on Monday, Sept 24.  Look for a video of the team competition.  The ultimate champion receives bragging rights, and students in their house will eat first on Tuesday, Sept 25th.
 8) The cheer competition was very tough, but two houses had amazing cheers and were able to win the coveted spirit stick.  Congratulations House 7-1 and House 6-2.  Videos are coming soon!
