2) A 4-H Find Out Night will be held on Thursday, Oct 10th from 6-8 PM at Kennedy Mall. Join us for experiments, arts and crafts, and all the other things 4-H has to offer.

3) Sports Today - Girls Volleyball...Jefferson Red vs. Washington White. 7th grade at Jefferson and 8th grade at Washington; both games begin at 4 p.m.

4) 7th Grade Football...Jefferson vs. Drexler Black at Jefferson at 4:15 p.m.

5) Students interested in girls basketball and wrestling, make sure you have a physical on file. These seasons will start October 14th.

2) Birthdays Today - September 26th...Gabrielle Liptak.

3) A 4-H Find Out Night will be held on Thursday, Oct 10th from 6-8 PM at Kennedy Mall. Join us for experiments, arts and crafts, and all the other things 4-H has to offer.

4) Students are reminded to try their best on the MAP tests! Teacher use these scores to measure how much you learn over the course of the year.

5) Sports Today - Girls Volleyball...Jefferson Red Volleyball vs. Roosevelt Black. 7th grade at Jefferson and 8th grade at Roosevelt; both games begin at 4 p.m.

6) Hillhawk helpers starts tonight. Anyone who signed up for this LEAP activity report to the cafeteria after school.

7) Congrats to Heather Hostager who finished 10th out of 95 girls at the 2 mile city wide cross-country meet on Tuesday night. Every member of the HillHawks cross-country team has improved their scores this season. Great job team, two meets to go!

Get involved with TJMS Site Council!

Parents, guardians, and friends of Thomas Jefferson Middle School:  We invite you to learn more about us by becoming a member of our site council.  This group meets once monthly to learn more about the activities happening at Jefferson.  Our first meeting of the year will be held on Friday, October 4 from noon to 1 PM.  The topic of this meeting will be the district technology plan and how this infusion of technology will be utilized in our building.  You'll get to see some of our new computer labs and tablets in action as well.  If you are interested in being a site council member, please contact Phil Kramer, Jefferson principal at pkramer@dbqschools.org or 552-4700.

Students are invited to wear their school colors and join in a celebratory lap around the new stadium. Plus, see the stadium's memorial plaza featuring a bronze statue of Jay Berwanger, the nation's first Heisman Trophy winner, and granite wall honoring Berwanger and his legendary Dubuque coach Wilbur Dalzell. We hope to see you there!

6) Congrats to the RED volleyball teams who played their openers on Monday night. The 7th graders won 5 out of the 6 games, and the 8th graders showed vast improvements from last season. Paige Connolly showed great improvement in her serves, she led the team in scoring for the night. Great Job Ladies. Gold volleyball teams begin their season on Thursday night. Go get them Hillhawks!

3) Volleyball Gold teams and Cross Country will have pictures today before practice.

4) Birthdays Today - September 7th...Angel Carroll, Taitem Marburger.

5) 7th and 8th grade students should NOT go through the 6th grade hallway upstairs during transition time. They should use the middle or south stair cases. If they use the north staircases they should be going to the main floor and not the top floor. It is way too congested if they go through the 6th grade hallway. This is mostly a 7th grade issue but the 8th graders do have the digital literacy class upstairs so they should use the middle stairwell to go to this class.
