TJMS Student Announcements - Thursday, March 31, 2016 -- Day A

1) Birthdays Today - March 31st...Tanner Bries, Travis Bries, Scott Hostager, Shaelyn Hostager, Samuel Kaufmann, Markus King.

2) All Jefferson Battle of the Book Teams. It is time for you to schedule a time to meet with Mrs. Duclos for practice. Team Captains please email Mrs. Duclos to set a up meeting time with her in the LRC. Please schedule your practice before the school Battle on Monday, April 25th. Thank you! Mrs. Duclos

3) If you want to increase your speed, improve your strength, or simply just want to physically get into better shape, sign up for Mr. McCormick’s and Mr. Timm’s "Raise the Bar" fitness class. The class starts next Monday, April 4th and Wednesday, April 6th. It’s a LEAP program so make sure you start in the cafeteria and sign in.

4) The Jefferson School Musical, "Thoroughly Modern Millie" will be performed on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights (April 7th, 8th, and 9th) at 7 p.m. and on Sunday, April 10th at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are only $5. You can buy tickets at the school office or from Ms. Glennon. "Thoroughly Modern Millie" takes place in New York in the 1920's. The play includes big dance numbers, mixed up love stories, and even a villain you will love to hate. Please come to see a great show and support Jefferson students.

5) 9th Annual Dubuque Senior High School Rams Cheerleading Day Camp is Saturday, April 30th from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Stop by the Main Office to pick up a registration form and more information.

3) Congratulations to Taylor Papenthien, Anna Klein, and Megan Slover. They won the girls 3 on 3 tournament for the 6th grade girls intramural tournament. Sam Akins, Ryan Carrol, and Tyler Freiburger won the 6th grade boys tournament. Great job to all participants, we can’t wait to see you in action next year playing for the HillHawks!

4) This Friday, March 18th is the Loras Dance Marathon and Fundraiser. Lots of activities, from 3 point contests to 3 legged races. Ask your homebase teacher for a list of the activities. Proceeds will go to Iowa Children’s Hospital. Hope to see you there!  Cost of the dance is $4.  Concessions will be available for purchase along with Loras Dance Marathon items.

2) 6th grade basketball intramurals start tomorrow, March 8th, from 2:30-4:00, boys in big gym, girls in south gym. Must have physical on file to participate, wear gym clothes to practice.

3) Congratulations to the following students who were selected to attend the Belin-Blank Summer Institute in Iowa City in June: Ella Esser, House 8-2, Creative Writing; Shaelyn Hostager, House 8-1, Performing Arts; Abby Kramer, House 7-2, Global & Cultural Studies; and Jackie Mootz, House 8-1, Visual Arts. Two Jefferson students were selected as alternates. Congratulations to our alternates: Jacob Fonck, House 8-1, Advanced Science; and Kaden Wehrenberg, House 7-2, Math Problem Solving.

4) Congratulations to Max Schumacher, House 8-2. He represented Jefferson at the Regional Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 5th. He was the 6th speller standing and did an awesome job.
