Monday, March 31, 2014 - Day A

1) Jefferson Wellness classes are participating in Live Healthy Iowa Kids again this year. The 5th and final purple calendar began March 22nd and will go through April 4th. Students are to be recording screen time and activity minutes on these calendars. The green calendars (water servings/activity minutes) are due right now to Mrs. Lucas and Mr. Wischmeyer. Any questions, please ask the Wellness teachers.

2) All 7th and 8th graders interested in track make sure you have an updated physical. Practice starts today. 6th graders interested in boys and girls basketball, make sure you have an updated physical on file. Basketball Intramurals start April 7th for boys and April 8th for girls.

3) Birthdays Today - March 31st...Scott Hostager, Shaelyn Hostager, Shyann Patterson.

4) Spring Jefferson LEAP Zipline dates will be: Monday (4-21-2014), Wednesday (4-23-2014), Friday (4-25-2014), Monday (4-28-2014), Wednesday (4-30-2014), Friday (5-2-2014), and Monday (5-5-2014). Sign-up after school in the cafeteria with Mrs. Beau if you haven’t already! Groups and classrooms are encouraged to sign-up together.

5) BATTLE OF THE BOOKS TEAMS...We will have a Battle of the Books quiz this week in the LRC. Tuesday, April 1st, 8th grade teams will meet at 11:00 and 6th grade teams will meet at 11:30. Friday, April 4th, 7th grade teams will meet in the LRC at 11:00. Each student needs to bring their Battle of the Book that they are currently reading and a pencil.

6) Congratulations to the Shooting Stars, they won the 3 on 3 tournament for the Girls. Team members were Kayla Lapage, Riley Bleymeyer, and Olivia Meyer. They beat the teacher team made up of Mrs. Willey, Ms. Kelly, and Ms. Pregler.

7) Congratulations to Mustangs, they won the Boys 3 on 3 tournament for the Boys at the dance on Friday. Team members were Ben Hermiston, Sean Bradley, Riley Connolly, and Savoy Williams.

8) View all pictures from the dance on Friday in the trophy case. It was a great time had by all. Next dance May 9th, Dodgeball tournament!

8) March Madness Dance on Friday, March 7th.  The cost of admission is $4 and you must have a school id.  Join us for dancing, karaoke, a Connect 4 tournament, facepainting, and fun.  A 3-on-3 basketball tournament will also be held, sign up your team with Mr. Hatcher.  Concessions will also be available for purchase.

2) Friday, March 7th is our next school dance. In the spirit of “March Madness” we will have a 3 on 3 basketball tournament if we have enough teams sign up. There will be a boys and girls bracket, and if enough teams sign-up we will have grade level tournaments. Entry fee per team is $1.00. Sign-up in Mr. Hatcher’s office, now until March 6th. Teacher 3 on 3 teams are welcomed and encouraged. There will also be, a DJ for dancing, face painting, pizza and other treats, karaoke, and possibly a Connect-4 tournament for prizes. Remember if you had 3 or more office referrals between December 6th (last dance) through March 7th you are not allowed to attend.

6) Kyle is no longer with the Y. Therefore, The Achievers LEAP program will not be held on March 4 or next Tuesday, March 11. Achievers will resume on March 25 with a new instructor.

7) Hempstead Football 7th & 8th Grade Lifting Schedule for March 2014...Tuesday 3/4, Thursday 3/6, Tuesday 3/11, Tuesday 3/25, and Thursday 3/27. All sessions are from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
