Student Announcements - Thursday, March 22, 2012 Day B

1) Today is a Day B.

2) All Students are reminded to be logging their physical activity minutes and water/milk servings daily to turn into their wellness teachers for Live Healthy Iowa kids.

3) Hempstead Fall Cheerleading will have a mandatory preseason tryout meeting on Monday, March 26th at 6:30 p.m. in the Hempstead Auditorium. Any questions please contact Coach Kress at 552-8027.

4) Birthdays Today - March 22nd...Tyler Brown, Ashton Esser, Tristan Esser, Alexis Kemp, Zachary Zmudka.

5)Attention all 7th grade students...The Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) will have a FREE Dental Sealant Program at Jefferson in the auditorium tomorrow, March 23. This includes a dental exam and application of preventive dental sealants. Consent forms are still available in the Nurses Office and must be completed and returned to the Nurses Office by this Thursday, March 22. Please contact the Nurses Office if you have any questions.

6) Attention Battle of the Books teams! Please go to the library with your team to take the school battle quiz. This must happen anytime of the day before Friday March 23th.

7) A reminder from the library, if you checked out a book before spring break it is now due. Please stop in and return or renew them! Thank you from Ms Cairns and Mrs. Neyens.

8) The last Leap Chess Class was on Tuesday, March 20th. Mr. Bausch will contact students for the city chess meet.

9) Leap Book Club for Wednesday, March 28th has been canceled.

10) Leap African Drums has been canceled on Friday, April 13th. There will be no make-up date.

11) The Hempstead Booster Club is sponsoring the Annual Bunny Hop 4K Run/Walk on April 7th. Please consider supporting this important fund raising event. Registration forms are available in the main office. Return forms to the main office.

12) The Dubuque Arts Council is sponsoring a free concert by The Kipperton String Quartet, who is finishing it's residency this week, on Friday night (March 23rd) at Loras College's Gallagher Hall, in the Visitation Building, corner of Alta Vista and University. They have a great program for students and the concert will be no exception.

13) Play practice tonight for all leads from 2:30 - 4 p.m.

14) Reminder...7th/8th Boys and Girls Track begins on Monday, March 26th. You must have a current physical on file in the main office to participate. Please sign up during your lunch period this week.

6th Grade Basketball 6th grade boys basketball practice tonight from 2:30-4:00 pm.
