2) All Students are reminded to be logging their physical activity minutes and screen time (t.v., computer, video games) daily to turn into their wellness teachers for Live Healthy Iowa kids.
3) 8th grade baseball tryouts for Hempstead will take place from Monday, April 30th through Tuesday, May 8th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Core Field.
4) Our final dance for the school year will be held Friday, April 20th, from 2:30-4:30 PM. Wristbands are $3 and will be sold at all lunches on the day of the dance. An ID is required for the dance. Replacement IDs can be purchased in the main office next week every day but Friday. Concessions will be available for purchase, including bake sale items and root beer floats. The theme for this dance is neon and tie dye. Student Government is sponsoring a dodge ball tournament which will be held at the dance on Friday, April 20th. Sign up with a team of 7-10 members. The cost to participate in dodge ball is $1 per person. If you are interested in having a dodge ball team with your friends, you will need to sign up by THURSDAY, APRIL 19th at 2:30 PM. No teams will be allowed to sign up at the dance. Your homebase teacher has details on how to sign up for the dodge ball tournament.

6) Girls track pictures are in the main office. Stop and pick them up if you placed an order.
7) All Leap Activities for Friday (4/20/12) are canceled due to the school dance.
8) All Leap Zip Liners that were scheduled for Friday the 20th have been moved to today, April 18th. Students check the bulletin board at the bottom of the stairs for names.
9) There is a musical rehearsal tomorrow with Mrs. Oglesby in the choir room. All members of the cast are encouraged to attend. Eat your lunch from 11:00 to 11:25 and then head over to the choir room. All major and minor cast members are supposed to bring their scripts with them.
10) Music Man rehearsal today for full cast from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m.
11) Any students needing a physical, please see the nurse. Physicals will be given on Tuesday, April 24th.
12) 6th grade football and volleyball both begin on Monday, April 23rd. A physical must be on file in the main office to participate.

7) Crew people for The Music Man, please listen up! There will be a meeting for everyone who signed up for Crew today after school. The meeting will be in Mrs. Duggan's room at 2:30 p.m. All crew members will be assigned a job at that meeting, so it is important that you attend. If you are in track or basketball, then please see Mrs. Steffen or Mrs. Duggan prior to the meeting. Again, the meeting for the crew is in Mrs. Duggan's room is today after school. There will also be rehearsal for all cast members with a speaking part today from 2:30-4:00 p.m. in the Auditorium. Any cast member who is in track or basketball must come to rehearsal at 2:30. You will be dismissed for sports at 3:15 p.m.
8) UD for Kids is a summer enrichment program for gifted and talented students in the tri-state area. Nominated students demonstrate advanced abilities in academic, leadership, creative, and/or visual and performing arts areas. They exhibit a strong desire to learn. These students must also have the maturity to work effectively with small groups in unfamiliar settings.
The 21st year of UD for Kids will be held this summer. Classes are held from 12:30-4:00 p.m. on the University of Dubuque campus (unless otherwise noted) during the following weeks:
· Session Three: July 9-13, 2012 for current fifth, sixth & seventh graders
Cost for each weeklong session is $115.00. This tuition includes a UD Kids t shirt and light daily snacks. (Limited partial scholarship assistance may be available but not guaranteed. Please indicate your need for assistance when registering.)
Check out the UD Kids website for the opening registration dates in March and April. If you choose to attend, you must register via the University of Dubuque web site. 9) Wellness classes at Jefferson just finished the 2nd reporting period (28 days) of the 100 Day Challenge for Live Healthy Iowa Kids. Students were recording daily activity minutes and vegetable servings from February 15th through March 13th. Mrs. Lucas' classes had a total of 639,087 activity minutes and 9333 vegetable servings. Mrs. Lucas' 7-1 B class had the most activity minutes with 81,531, and her 6-2 B class had the most vegetable servings with 1513. Mr. Wischmeyer's classes had a total of 506,951 activity minutes and 7857 vegetable servings. Mr. Wischmeyer's 6-2 A class had the most activity minutes with 59,825, and his 7-2 B class had the most vegetable servings with 1223. Students started recording activity minutes and milk/water servings on March 14th and will continue to through April 10th. Students are reminded to stay active, make healthy eating/drinking choices, and keep up the great work!

7) Crew people for The Music Man, please listen up! There will be a meeting for everyone who signed up for Crew today after school. The meeting will be in Mrs. Duggan's room at 2:30 p.m. All crew members will be assigned a job at that meeting, so it is important that you attend. If you are in track or basketball, then please see Mrs. Steffen or Mrs. Duggan prior to the meeting. Again, the meeting for the crew is in Mrs. Duggan's room is today after school. There will also be rehearsal for all cast members with a speaking part today from 2:30-4:00 p.m. in the Auditorium. Any cast member who is in track or basketball must come to rehearsal at 2:30. You will be dismissed for sports at 3:15 p.m.
8) UD for Kids is a summer enrichment program for gifted and talented students in the tri-state area. Nominated students demonstrate advanced abilities in academic, leadership, creative, and/or visual and performing arts areas. They exhibit a strong desire to learn. These students must also have the maturity to work effectively with small groups in unfamiliar settings.
The 21st year of UD for Kids will be held this summer. Classes are held from 12:30-4:00 p.m. on the University of Dubuque campus (unless otherwise noted) during the following weeks:
· Session Three: July 9-13, 2012 for current fifth, sixth & seventh graders
Cost for each weeklong session is $115.00. This tuition includes a UD Kids t shirt and light daily snacks. (Limited partial scholarship assistance may be available but not guaranteed. Please indicate your need for assistance when registering.)
Check out the UD Kids website for the opening registration dates in March and April. If you choose to attend, you must register via the University of Dubuque web site. They have a great program for students and the concert will be no exception.

3. Attention Battle of the Books teams! Please go to the library with your team to take the school battle quiz. This must happen anytime of the day before Friday, March 23.

Eat your lunch from 11:00-11:25 and then head to the choir room. All major and minor cast members are supposed to bring their scripts with them to all choir rehearsals. Thank you.
