Student Announcements - Friday, September 28, 2012 Day A

2) Sports Today...Girls Red Volleyball - Jefferson Red vs. Mazzuchelli Gold. 7th grade only at Mazzuchelli at 4 p.m.

3) Winter sports are just around the corner…. Girls basketball starts October 15th, and boys wrestling starts October 22nd. Make sure you have an updated physical turned into the main office if you want to participate.

4) Birthdays - September 29th...Emma Freiburger. September 30th...Hemmy Milton.

5) Someone you know could be bullied. Someone you know might be a bully. Join us on Monday, October1st! Make a statement against bullying and cyberbullying and STOMP Out Bullying™! We’re asking all TJMS students and staff to participate in BLUE SHIRT DAY™ WORLD DAY OF BULLYING PREVENTION by wearing a BLUE SHIRT in solidarity to STOMP Out Bullying™. Students wearing blue shirts will be able to eat first on Monday, October 1st.

6) Wednesday, October 3rd is “Walk to School Day.” This is a day that celebrates staying active and fit. Walking to school helps you to include regular physical activity you need into each day, to build strong bones, muscles and joints, and to decrease the risk of obesity. If you are able to walk to school, consider walking instead of getting a ride on Wednesday, October 3rd.

Box Tops Remember to save your box tops. Don't forget to ask your friends and relatives to save them too. The Advisory class with the most will get a pizza party!

2) 6th Grade Girls Volleyball and 6th Grade Boys Football will meet today from 2:45-4:15 p.m.

3) 8th grade tryouts for HHS softball will be today and tomorrow, May 7th & 8th from 5:30-7 p.m. and Thursday & Friday, May 9th & 10th from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m. All softball players must attend the fundraising meeting in the HHS auditorium on Wednesday, May 9th at 6:30 p.m.

4) Music Man rehearsal will be today from 2:30 to 4:30.

5) If there are any 8th grade girls interested in playing softball at Senior High School, practice starts today, May 7th, at Senior's softball field. Practice will go from 5:30 - 7:30 PM. If you have any questions, please contact the activities office at Senior High School.

5) Parent Informational Meeting for 8th grade HHS softball tryouts will be today, May 3rd at 7:30 p.m. in the Hempstead High School Auditorium. 8th grade tryouts for HHS softball will be Monday & Tuesday, May 7th & 8th from 5:30-7 p.m. and Thursday & Friday, May 9th & 10th from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m. All softball players must attend the fundraising meeting in the HHS auditorium on Wednesday, May 9th at 6:30 p.m.

4) Music Man Rehearsal today for Full Cast (scenes 6 through 10) from 2:30 - 4 p.m.

6) Any student in the musical production who wishes to purchase a T-shirt, please bring your money to Ms. Baumann by Wednesday, May 2nd. Staff, if you wish to buy a T-shirt from "The Music Man" contact Ms. Baumann.

7) There is a musical rehearsal tomorrow with Mrs. Oglesby in the choir room. All members of the cast are encouraged to attend. Eat your lunch from 11:00 to 11:25 and then head over to the choir room. All major and minor cast members are supposed to bring their scripts with them.

3) There are openings for Leap Zip Line on Wednesday, May 2nd and Friday, May 4th. Please see Mrs. Beau any night this week after school in the cafeteria to sign up. This activity is for all grades. There are not a lot of openings so please don't wait too long.

3) 8th grade baseball tryouts for Hempstead will take place from Monday, April 30th through Tuesday, May 8th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Core Field.

4) Girls and boys track pictures are in the main office. Stop and pick them up if you placed an order.

5) 6th grade football and volleyball after school until 4:15. A physical must be on file in the main office to participate.

Wednesday, April 18, 2012 Day B

1) Today is a Day B.

2) All Students are reminded to be logging their physical activity minutes and screen time (t.v., computer, video games) daily to turn into their wellness teachers for Live Healthy Iowa kids.

3) 8th grade baseball tryouts for Hempstead will take place from Monday, April 30th through Tuesday, May 8th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Core Field.

4) Our final dance for the school year will be held Friday, April 20th, from 2:30-4:30 PM. Wristbands are $3 and will be sold at all lunches on the day of the dance. An ID is required for the dance. Replacement IDs can be purchased in the main office next week every day but Friday. Concessions will be available for purchase, including bake sale items and root beer floats. The theme for this dance is neon and tie dye. Student Government is sponsoring a dodge ball tournament which will be held at the dance on Friday, April 20th. Sign up with a team of 7-10 members. The cost to participate in dodge ball is $1 per person. If you are interested in having a dodge ball team with your friends, you will need to sign up by THURSDAY, APRIL 19th at 2:30 PM. No teams will be allowed to sign up at the dance. Your homebase teacher has details on how to sign up for the dodge ball tournament.

5) 6th grade girls basketball will practice tonight from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m.

8) All Leap Zip Liners that were scheduled for Friday the 20th have been moved to today, April 18th. Students check the bulletin board at the bottom of the stairs for names.
