1) Jefferson Wellness classes are participating in Live Healthy Iowa Kids again this year. The pink calendar began Saturday, February 8th and ends Friday, February 21st. Students are to be recording vegetable servings and activity minutes on these calendars. The pink calendars will be due February 25th to Mrs. Lucas and Mr. Wischmeyer. Any questions, please ask the Wellness teachers.
2) Any student interested in the Iowa Middle School’s Bowling Tournament see Mr. Hatcher for more details. See if you got what it takes to be a champion bowler.
3) If you wish to order a 2013-2014 Jefferson Middle School memory book, money will be accepted through today. The cost of the memory book is $12.00 and may be paid in the main office by cash or check. This is the last chance to order a memory book.
4) The office is sending out bills to parents and the library would like students to check your lockers and backpacks for overdue library books. Please return them as soon as you can so that you won’t have charges for the books. Thank you, Ms. Duclos and Ms. Neyens.
5) Chess club every Monday and Wednesday in cafeteria, sign-up through LEAP and Mr. Bennett will teach you the skills you need to be a dominant Chess Master.
6) Lost and found items are piling up in cafeteria, if you are missing some clothing be sure to check during lunchtime or before or after school.
7) A reminder to all students attending after school events. You are not permitted in gym area or unsupervised anywhere on school grounds from 2:30-4:00 p.m. If you want to watch events, you need to leave and come back at the beginning of event. Most kids sign up for LEAP activities, then stay to watch events. Ask homebase teachers for sign-up and LEAP activity information.
8) Remember to collect all the Box Tops you can for the February Competition. All Box Tops are due by February 28th.
9) Birthdays Today - February 15th...Kelli Carter, Jeanette McGlynn.
10) Next week is “No Unkind Words Week.” Each day, students can dress different ways to have some fun. If you dress as directed for the day, you will be allowed to eat lunch first during your lunch time. Also, members of the Anti-Bullying Alliance will be taking pictures of students for TJMS Live, Facebook, and possibly the yearbook. Most importantly, we want to create a culture where students and staff say kind words to each other. So, avoid put-downs, teasing, bullying comments. Remember, “Treat everyone with politeness, even those who are rude to you- not because they are nice, but because you are.”
