Student Announcements - Tuesday, November 19, 2013 Day A
1) Do you have a special talent? The Talent Show auditions will be held after school today, November 19th OR Thursday, November 21st from 2:35-4:00. You may come on either day. You will leave after you have auditioned your act. A panel of judges will rate the acts based on talent, preparation, and their appeal to students. All acts must be appropriate for a middle school audience. The selections will be posted before Thanksgiving break. There will be two rehearsals during home base before the final show on December 10th.
2) Sports Today - Girls Basketball...Jefferson vs. Drexler Black. 7th grade at Jefferson and 8th grade at Drexler; both games begin at 4 p.m.
3) S-P-E-L-L-I-N-G B-E-E. If you are a great speller, we want you to represent Jefferson in the Telegraph Herald spelling bee in January at Clarke University. Interested students should contact Ms. Weber to sign up.
Health Concern It seems that some students are rubbing their skin with erasers so hard that they are giving themselves significant burn marks. Students, please do no participate in this activity. It is not healthy for anyone to be doing things that damage any part of your body. Teachers, please watch for any students that might be involved in this kind of behavior and report them to the health office.
Fighting Saints Jersey Design Contest The Dubuque Fighting Saints are having a contest to design a warm up Jersey for their hockey team. If you would like to create a design for this contest please stop in the office and pick up the information and guidelines for the design. The winner will receive their own Jersey. The warm up jerseys will be auctioned off to the public after the January 11th game. Proceeds from the event will go to benefit the University of Iowa Children's Hospital.
Student Newspaper Any students that are interested in helping to create a student newspaper at Jefferson are asked to attend a meeting in the LRC on Friday. Sixth grade students should come to the LRC first period. Seventh and eighth grade students during 5th period. The meeting will only last 10-15 minutes.
